Lirael- Lizardbreath's Review

First of all, if you don't understand any of the terms I use in this review click here for the review where I actually explain the terms. Anyway, this book is the sequel to "Sabriel" and it is about this girl named Lirael. Lirael is a Daughter of the Clayr. This is kind of like a race of people in the 'other' world and everyone who belongs to this race can see the future. Lirael, is the one exception. She cannot see the future, while most kids See at a fairly early age, Lirael is 14 when this book begins and has not Seen anything. Lirael has no close family in the Clayr(they're all related some way though, but usually very distantly) except an aunt. Her mother left the Clayr and came back pregnant, had Lirael, stayed for a little while, then left again and never returned. Lirael is very frustrated about not being able to See, and one day, her birthday, decides to kill herself. She goes to the top of the Glacier where the Clayr live, but gets delayed by the arrival of the King and the Abhorsen(if you read the first book you'll know who they are). She eventually gets discovered by two of the head Clayr, who decide the best thing for Lirael is to give her a job at the library. This is definitely NOT and ordinary library, there are many hidden doorways and secrets. This is just the beginning of the book to find out more you have to READ IT!!! I read this book before I read 'Sabriel' and I think I liked this one a little bit better, I'd say you can pretty much read them in the order you want. I'm pretty sure there is also a third book in this series, called 'Abhorsen', ao you can check that out too if you want, but I'm not sure its been released yet...;) Click here for a more complete review of the book, because I left a sub-plot or two out...;)
