- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire -

This is the fourth book in the Harry Potter series. In it, Harry's waiting to start his fourth year at Hogwarts, when he gets an invitation from Ron to come to the Quidditch World Cup. Harry is allowed to go, and once again goes to the Weasley's for the rest of the summer. After the match, a bunch of Deatheaters (Voldemort's followers) appear, and start wreaking havoc. Someone makes the Voldemort's symbol, the Darkmark, appear in the sky. It is later discovered that someone took Harry's wand and used it to do this.

When they arrive at school, they learn that for the first time in a long time, the Triwizard Tournament is taking place again. The Tournament is a competiton between champions from three wizarding schools, Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons. Each school may enter students, aged 17 and older, and the Goblet of Fire, a cup thingy, picks one person from each school to compete. The students from the other schools arrive, and everyone who wants to, puts their name in the Goblet. That night, the Goblet picks three students, Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, Viktor Krum, also seeker on the Romanian Quidditch team, from Durmstrang, and Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts. Then, for some strange reason, Harry's name is also picked. Harry didn't enter his name, but he must compete once the Goblet has picked him.

The three events in the Tournament are spread out througout the school year, and, by the third challenge, Harry is tied with Cedric for first place, based on the number of points they each have. The third challenge turns out to be a giant maze. Cedric and Harry both reach the end and touch the Cup together. When they touch the cup they are transported to a strange place. It turns out the cup was turned into a Portkey, a device for travelling to different places instantly. What happens next? Will Harry and Cedric survive?
