A Wizard of Earthsea- Lizardbreath's Review

Okay, okay I know orange and purple, not the greatest combo....but hey!;) Anyways, the review..This book starts off with a kid who lives in Earthsea, a fantasy world made up of a BIG group of islands. His mother names him Duny, but the kids in his village start calling him Sparrowhawk, and that becomes the name he uses. When he was young he heard his aunt saying a series of weird words in some other language and when he repeats them all the goats in his heard come to him. This spell gets out of control and he runs to his aunt, and she fixes it. She is surprised by his power though, which is VERY strong (hey, can YOU make a heard of goats follow you everywhere??), and starts teaching him more magic. The magic in this world is very different from what you'd expect, in Earthsea everything has a true name, and to change something into something else you must know that object's true name. So Sparrowhawk learns a bit of magic, which is good, because when an army tries to invade the village, he hides the whole village in a misty thing and the enemies can't find them. This is just the beggining of this book, and ALOT more happens to Sparrohawk (or Ged, as he finds ot his true name is), including setting free an evil shadow beast only he can destroy, which is always a problem...pesky shadow beasts...AND, it is only the first in a series of books..UH-OH..;)
